paved streets in shady residential neighborhoods cast our shadows long

I remember paperbacks cutting slack to dime a dozen serials and theories long proved false
highlighted sentences peppered with orange, blue and purple pens smudged hard pressed gel

mysterious miracles take place everyday at the grand exchange
it could happen to anyone especially you since the libraries were raised

I remember almanacs from long closed chapters yellowed pages peeling back the records of the year
Gave myself heart attacks from cutting class and failing grades and taking naps as taped dust jackets tear

nestled with the rest and grateful for a roof over their heads
so here’s your chance you gotta reach in your hand never know what you’ll get
let us hope the sun never sets on the empire of free little libraries
